Dear WAMFT Members,

Thank you for your recent participation in our board elections and proposed bylaw updates. Your engagement is critical to the strength and direction of our organization, and we’re grateful for the time and thoughtfulness you brought to the process.
As part of our affiliation with AAMFT, WAMFT operates under an Independent Affiliate Agreement which includes guidelines around how we manage bylaws and policy changes. AAMFT has advised us that at this time, only one bylaw change is permitted—removal of the geographical requirement for student representative roles. This clarification means that no other proposed bylaw or policy changes will move forward at this time.
We recognize the effort many of you put into reviewing and voting on the full ballot, and we want to express our sincere appreciation for your involvement. It is through this collective participation that WAMFT continues to grow stronger.
You will soon hear from our Elections Committee regarding the announcement of our incoming board members, and we look forward to welcoming new leaders into service.
During the election preparation, we also identified one item that was not included in the voting process: a proposal to increase WAMFT membership dues. The current board has voted in favor of this adjustment, as part of our responsibility to ensure WAMFT can continue to grow, meet member needs, and advocate effectively for our profession across Washington State.
To honor our commitment to transparency and member voice, we will send out a separate vote soon to gather your feedback on this dues adjustment. This additional step will allow us to hear directly from you, our membership, and ensure alignment as we continue shaping the future of WAMFT together.
As always, thank you for showing up, staying engaged, and being a part of this incredible community.
Warmly,
Billie Tyler, PhD, LMFT
WAMFT President
