Session Description
Couples therapists learn how to use an intervention, RED (Relationship Enhancing Discussions) in Bed, in which couples are encouraged to talk about the impact of sensitivities related to body image, weight, body sensitivities, and sexual trauma on intimate touch and sexual intimacy. Even couples who have been together for years may have never had these delicate, illuminating, and extremely helpful conversations because neither partner knew how to initiate the conversation. This clinical tool takes couples through seven steps, each with an interactional component: (1) talking about the meaning of sex and intimate touch, (2) talking about body image and sex or intimate touch, (3) talking about changes in weight and sex or intimate touch, (4) talking about sensitivities related to the impact of negative sexual experiences, (5) talking about body sensitivities during sex or intimate touch, (6) synthesizing what you learned about each other, (7) restoring intimate touch…
