Open Board Positions Available
President Elect
Serves a two-year term working closely with the President and Board to learn the role, support WAMFT’s leadership, and prepare for the transition to President. The President-Elect also chairs the WAMFT Conference Committee and serves as the presiding officer for WAMFT and Board meetings when the President is unavailable. Candidates must be Professional Members of AAMFT. This position represents a five-year leadership commitment: two years as President-Elect, followed by two years as President, and one year as Past President.
Member-At-Large, Legislative Committee Co-Chair
Helps WAMFT stay informed about legislative issues that impact the marriage and family therapy profession. In partnership with the committee and fellow co-chair, this board member monitors proposed legislation, supports advocacy efforts, and helps keep members updated on policy changes and opportunities to engage. They also bring the committee's perspective to the Board and help strengthen WAMFT's voice in legislative matters. Candidates must be WAMFT voting members in good standing. Two Member-at-Large positions are available during this election cycle.
Student Representative
Helps ensure student voices are included in board discussions, co-chair student committee, share information about opportunities and resources with fellow students, co-plan Mentor Day, and support connections between WAMFT and MFT training programs. Candidates must be WAMFT Student Members in good standing when their term begins and must remain eligible for the student membership category for at least the first year of the term.
Pre-Clinical Representative
Brings the perspective of pre-clinically licensed marriage and family therapists to the WAMFT Board. They help ensure the needs and experiences of early-career clinicians are represented in board discussions, chair of the pre-clinical committee, share resources and opportunities with fellow associates, co-plan Mentor Day, and support initiatives that foster professional growth, connection, and successful licensure. Candidates must be WAMFT members in good standing and hold an active Washington Marriage and Family Therapist Associate license. The person elected must retain their associate licensure status for at least the first year of the term.
Elections Committee Member
Help identify and recruit qualified candidates for WAMFT Board and leadership positions. They support a fair and transparent election process, encourage member involvement, and help cultivate future leaders within the organization. This role offers an opportunity to strengthen WAMFT by helping build a diverse and engaged leadership team. Candidates must be WAMFT voting members in good standing. Elections Committee members help recruit candidates, confirm candidate eligibility, prepare the election slate, support the voting process, and encourage member participation.

Qualifications to Run for Office
Candidates must:

Be a current WAMFT member and an AAMFT member in good standing.

Meet the membership, licensing, or student-status requirements for their chosen position.

Be eligible, qualified, and willing to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Agree to follow WAMFT and AAMFT bylaws and applicable organizational policies.

Complete the candidate application and provide all requested materials.
Eligibility will be confirmed by the Elections Committee before a candidate is placed on the ballot.
