About the Event
Session Description
The legislative committee co-chairs, Ashley Lacy and Ashley Haynes-Gibson, along with advocate Amber Lewis, will provide a brief overview of WAMFT’s legislative and advocacy history, emphasizing the importance of MFT involvement in legislation as part of our work. During this presentation, we will not delve into the details of the 2024 laws and their impact on MFTs; this will be reserved for a separate WAMFT lunch and learn presentation with Q&A. Instead, attendees will have the opportunity to meet MFTs and other mental health professionals through a panel Q&A discussion. They will learn about each panelist’s journey into advocacy, policy, and legislation, including their successes and setbacks, the complexity of the work, and how an MFT at any level can become involved in a way that suits their life.
