Anne Mauro, your presenter, offers a unique perspective as a child born into the Loving Generation. The Loving Generation are a group of individuals that have one Black parent and one white parent and were born between 1967 (Loving vs. Virginia) and the early 80’s. As you may already know, historically forbidden by law, interracial relationships have had to overcome many challenges throughout time. When the worry of the anti-miscegenation laws were lifted, society slowly began to accept interracial relationships. Thus resulting in an increase in the number of interracial relationships and mixed-race children. Many of us have clients with more than two ethnicities or cultures. Presently, within our therapy offices, we may be seeing individuals of several races partnering with someone else that is bi or multiracial.
