About the Event
Session Description
Couples’ therapists (CTs) play an active role in the therapeutic process both professionally and personally. Despite the increase in research into the person of the therapist, few studies have examined the person of the therapist issues specific to CTs. This workshop is based on the qualitative research conducted with 17 CTs in romantic relationships who are also working with couples.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be provided a model developed for couples therapists’ intentional use of themselves in the therapy room.
- Participants will explore three access points, namely their wounded child, their own intimate relationships, and the social location, which they used in connecting, assessing, and intervening with the clients.
- Participants will use genogram as a tool to get in touch with their own vulnerabilities and better serve their couple clients.
