About the Event
Session Description
Knowledge of our nervous system and its innate connection to our behavior is a neglected tool in the therapist’s office. Learning to navigate the nervous system can empower clients to connect in a powerful way. Using the research from Dan Siegel’s Interpersonal Neurobiology field and the work of Deb Dana and Steven Porges on Polyvagal theory, this workshop will explain in accessible terms the fundamental nervous system states, explore the power of communication of these states in a relational system, and give concrete interventions to incorporate in clinical work immediately.
Â
The presenter will use visual images and, pending approval, video clips to help demonstrate a clear understanding of the differences between states and the integral part the nervous system plays in the connection and communication that is a foundation of clinical work.
