Washington Association for Marriage and Family Therapy is the professional home for more than 1,200 mental health practitioners, teachers, and students in the state of Washington. WAMFT offers activities where members can connect with colleagues, expand professional horizons, and stay abreast of advances in the field.

Networking

  • Holiday Party/Awards Reception: WAMFT holds a fun and festive party to celebrate the season and honor those members who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to support WAMFT and enhance the MFT profession.
  • Networking Events: These free coffees and lunches are a relaxing way to network and discuss issues that affect the profession locally.
  • Listserv: Members use the listserv to post inquiries about practice issues, stay in touch with WAMFT colleagues, share practice information, network with peers, and receive association updates.

Education

  • Annual Conference: Each year, WAMFT offers a day-long workshop with renowned practitioners from around the country.
  • Northwest Regional Conference: WAMFT offers a two-day workshop featuring a nationally known speaker.
  • Mentor Day: This free event is intended for student and associate members to learn more about licensing, supervision, marketing, and much more.

Advocacy

  • Policy/Legislative Advocacy: WAMFT volunteers participate in the Washington Department of Health Advisory Committee, which writes the rules that define the terms of your MFT license. In addition, WAMFT works tirelessly to persuade legislators and principals of health care organizations of what we already know—that family therapy works! Our efforts increase the rights and acceptance of MFTs throughout the health care system.
  • Scholarships for Student Members: WAMFT is proud to recognize Student Members based on academic achievement and contributions to their school and community. Scholarship recipients receive a $500 scholarship and free registration to WAMFT’s annual conference.
  • Supervisor Database: WAMFT offers a list of AAMFT Approved Supervisors and Washington state-qualified supervisors at no cost to those seeking supervision.
